So I feel like this year is moving faster than I would like...I know everyone told me that when you turn 30 things just seem to be a blur...and so far..they are right. July is almost here and it will have been 4 years since my mom passed away. I normally don't bring up too many personal things on this blog of thrifitng and fashion..but my heart is filled today and I am actually so excited about tonight.

Tonight we are having a small mixer filled with close friends, family, and some of the recipients of the Yaffa Dahan Nursing Education Dissertation Scholarship. Every year we have raised close to $5,000 for the fund and so far 5 PhD students have been awarded the scholarship!!! We are so excited...it is so different when you see and meet the individuals who have benefited from everyone's support! Anyway,I  think I haven't really been talking about it because when I do, I find myself getting all sad and anxious...and then I want to pick up the phone and call my mom to tell her how awesome she is and how there are so many supporters across the world giving to this fund. but I can't so I write in this blog once again hoping she sees...anyway, here is part of the small flyer we wrote and just a little insight into who she was and how this helps!

~Yaffa Dahan Nursing Education Fund ~
In Memory of Yaffa Dahan
Yaffa Dahan was born on December 29, 1954 was raised in a small town in Israel. After marrying David Dahan in Israel at age 20, Yaffa moved to Las Vegas to start a family and a new life. Dedicated to education, Yaffa was ambitious in pursuing educational opportunities and a career in nursing. Her educational journeys lead her to earn an MBA in Business Management and a PhD in Administrative Healthcare. She became a registered nurse, which she practiced for more than 28 years. She was a member of the Honors Society in Nursing at UNLV, and was honored as an outstanding alumna. She was a wonderful, dedicated spirit who touched all those who crossed her path. In honor of her memory, the Yaffa Dahan Nursing Education Fund was established in 2007 at UNLV to assist outstanding PhD nursing students in their dissertation research.
The Students
Since the establishment of the fund, doctoral students have benefited each year from the Yaffa Dahan Nursing Dissertation Award. This award in the amount of $1,000 assists students with the resources they need to complete their research. To be considered for the award, students must be in good standing in the UNLV School of Nursing PhD Program, have completed the comprehensive examination and must have a dissertation approved by a dissertation committee. Past recipients of this award include:
Yaffa Dahan Nursing Education Fund Recipients
Anne Diaz, PhD, RN, CNRN 2007-2008
Jennifer Richards, PhD, RN, CNRN 2008-2009
Heidi Mennenga, PhD, RN 2009-2010
