Strong women, special cause

Today I am sharing a very special message....from a very special gal..we have all been affected in one way or another by cancer and Jackie Clark, staff writer for the Mesothelioma blog, is sharing some beauty tips with us...please take a second to visit Jackie and help share her message!

Jackie joined the Mesothelioma Cancer Alliance in 2009 as a research assistant after graduating with a bachelor’s degree in English and a minor in fitness and nutrition. Jackie's interest in health and wellness pairs well with her fashion obsession. Jackie wanted to show women that beauty starts on the inside with self confidence. From there women have the power and desire to see their inner beauty, which allows them to develop an outer beauty. Jackie’s experience in technical and medical research has allowed her to assist in the development of medical content and outreach efforts, with specializations in alternative care, cancer support programs, and social media campaigns.
The best beauty tip anybody can ever give you is to be comfortable in your own skin. Despite a seemingly gloomy prognosis for cancer or mesothelioma, you’ll be amazed at how much a little fashion and beauty can brighten up your entire attitude towards life and love!
It’s the little things that count. When it comes to dressing up for a casual night on the town or visiting a close friend, accessories, shoes, blouses and more can make the world of difference in brightening your mood. What you wear can make you feel powerful and confident. This year is all about bold colors and streamlined fashion trends. You can make this work to your advantage. Check out some ways Shana uses some of the latest trends to update your wardrobe!

MAKEUP
Makeup is the simplest way in the world to brighten your spirits. A quick application of foundation, powder and a sweep of blush can lighten your complexion and accentuate your naturally beautiful features. Eyeliner and eye shadow are two different ways to draw attention to a naturally gorgeous feature of your body: your eyes! Lipstick is also a great way to add color and have fun!

Mixing Patterns
If you haven't tried mixing patterns yet, you are in for a treat. We all have patterns sitting in our closet, and often times we pair them with a solid skirt, or solid shirt. Instead of wearing the same old outfits, try and grab your favorite black and white striped scarf and pair it with a black and white polka dot skirt..try to stay in the same color realm and have fun exploring new ways to wear your patterns!

Pleated Skirts
Pleated skirts have been around for a long time. With vintage and new, these skirts make a great statement and can be paired with almost anything, long or short, pleated skirts never go out of style.

Boot cut/Flare Jeans
Throwback styles to the 70s and 80s are all the rage, and flare jeans are right at the top of the list. Pair them with sweaters, scarves, flapper-style hats with cloth flowers and peep-toe sandals.

Shoes
Shoes were made to finish off the perfect outfit. Knee-high slouch boots, leather boots with straps and studs, the standard UGG, roll back knit boots and suede boots are enormously popular. Get them doused in glitter or rife with a paisley pattern. They’re comfortable, adorable, and versatile.

Hats
Hats have been popular fashion accessories for hundreds of years – for both sexes. But for women, especially those dealing with cancer, hats are the ideal way to dress up. Flapper styles are all the rage, as are bowling hats with feathers and floppy hats for the summer!

  6. Hey I am Stacy. I think Beauty is only skin deep. If you go after someone just because she's beautiful but don't have anything to talk about, it's going to get boring fast. You want to look beyond the surface and see if you can have fun or if you have anything in common with this person.
