Finding Faith: FRESH START

Hi friends!

Well it's a new year, and I usually try to think of it as a fresh start. I try to regroup, refocus. However I'm not sure that any of that is long lasting. For the past few years now, I have seen a pattern at the gym for instance. This week, annoyingly packed, slowly dwindles down, until sometime next month it will be back to normal. I don't really know that I have ever stuck to a "New Years resolution". There are definitely things about a new year that brings new hope, but I really believe more in "a new day". Today is a new day. Today I get to start over. Today I can choose different, and that is a chance I get EVERY day! I make this joke every time the New Year rolls around, and I think I heard it it first from George Carlin...instead of making New Years resolutions, I just write down everything I accomplished last year, and back date it.

GOALS ACHIEVED! Usually the things I accomplish, I didn't even think about until later in the year anyway. Truth is, I'm still working on goals I have already put in place, and in a couple of months, I may add to that, or it may change. I don't need any new event or milestone to make a new plan. I am always making changes. I have had many that have really come into focus since September. I have a new career. I have been inspired to encourage others, and be more giving, less judgmental. I have been focused more on family. I have deepened my relationship with God.  I'm doing my Brave Girls Club "soul school". I actually am probably going to be posting a lot on that. The January focus for Soul School is "begin again". I framed one of the print outs and have it on a shelf in my bedroom. It is the first thing I see when I open my eyes in the morning. A reminder that today, I get to begin again.

I am also focusing more on finding peace. Looking for the good. I have a tendency to focus on my fears, and I have realized, this is not healthy for me. One of my soul school projects was to "go where the peace is". I made these cards and box as a reminder.

Another good practice that I want to make a priority, is to treat myself and talk to myself as I would a dear friend. We tend to be so harsh with ourselves when we feel we have fallen short, and speak to ourselves unkindly. I am going to continue to make "truth cards", another Brave Girls Club lesson that I think is very powerful. And eventually I would like to make these to inspire others. These aren't anything fancy right now, but the simple act of putting the time into make these felt very life changing.

Thanks for letting me share my thoughts and experiences! Love you all!

Creatively yours,

Faith
