Week 10 One Room Challenge: The dining room wallpaper reveal! + new chandelier!

Well, we finally made it to the wallpaper reveal. This is 1 of 2 reveals since I also have the entry way reveal coming as well! Oh and I guess this is also a reveal of the lighting! I LOVE IT!!!

As you can see I went with my 1st choice for this wall!

This beautiful Tuscan Landscape Mural from Milton & King is absolutely beautiful and EXACTLY what I was dreaming of for this room. I went with the color blue, though there are several colors available! Ironically enough our home is a very Tuscan inspired home with arches into every room and while my style includes a very hotel regency, vintage with a touch of boho vibe, this mural captured central Italy beautifully! These panels are 117.6" (300cm) high x 24" (61.5cm) wide. Each roll comes with 3 panels so it will repeat every 3 panels. They arrived so quickly and as you know I worked with Milton & King for my first One Room Challenge HERE! I fell in love after that experience and well...I might have a wallpaper obsession...so don't be surprised if the rest of this 3,200 Square foot home is filled with more murals and designs from Milton & King!

I will share more of the process and some helpful tips as well on my Youtube Channel soon but you can also follow me on Instagram as I will share some of the reveals there as well!

Lots of treasures, just don't really go together, plus the walls were a taupe color and not flat! But as you will see I used quite a bit and changed up a few things!

I did order samples and taped them to the walls, I took it with me to the paint store that is how I fell upon the paint color finally.

I invested in some help with this project as life has me kind of all over the place...more on that later. Regardless, this wallpaper went up beautifully, as I knew it would. One thing we did differently than before was making sure that we applied even pressure throughout so that it dried evenly, I also applied the glue more evenly as well which made SUCH a difference. But more on tips and tricks! LET US get to the reveal shall we? remember it is not finished just yet, I will be painting the outlets to match the wall color and adding curtains etc....but here is where we are now!

So before we look at all the AFTER  photos let us take a look at the BEFORE shall we?

I am just so pleased with how it is coming along! The colors, the mood. The chandelier I purchased on sale from , wait for it...Z Gallerie...I never thought I would be one to get anything from there...but I searched and searched and when I saw this...I JUST KNEW IT!!! I am not showing more of the room , since there are more reveals to come...We don't have a lot of light that comes in this room so I did remove the shutters and I am so glad we did! Curtains and more coming soon. But can we just take a moment for this beautiful mural. There is a sense of calm that comes over me in this room, where family & friends will gather for meals and games, laughter & love. I have finally begun thanking this home for helping me through some of the hardest times, and being a place of shelter and security. Now, I hope it will give a sense of inspiration to you all! UGh, and the color is perfect!!!!

Did I mention that the Restoration Hardward chairs were chairs I actually picked up on Facebook Marketplace for FREE, and the end high back cane chairs are from Savers for $7 if you follow my Youtube Channel Thrifters Anonymous! Speaking of, the reveal of the final room will be on our channel soon, along with Edwina's DIY , HOME reveals and more! So STAY TUNED.

This isn't even done yet!!!

Special thank you Milton & King for not only creating the most beautiful, easy to apply, inspiring wallpaper around, but for helping me to make it possible. Partnering with Milton & King has been a dream come true! And well you can see what I am talking about!!!

Will be sharing more on my Instagram

STAY TUNED.. I promise more to come!

xoxo,
Shana Emily

ONE ROOM CHALLENGE SPRING 2022 - WEEK THREE Choosing the perfect Wallpaper for a Dining Room & Entry Way

It was around this time last year when I told my hubby I was doing the One Room Challenge and I was wanting so badly to use wallpaper. He first asked me if I was nuts with everything on my plate to do a challenge that I have no business doing haha but then laughed when I said I would be attempting my first wallpaper application. Let's face it I didn't do it perfectly I faltered, I messed up...I even had to RE DO it haha but I look over at it every single day and I am so inspired. Like..I DID that...I came up with this whole room...it has pieces of my treasures , family heirlooms, and little stories in every corner...that is all my own. So...THAT my friends is why I am going to be doing this again!

I may be in over my head but what's new right? SO..On to wallpaper and some of my ideas for the entry way and dining room / adult lounge in our home! I LOVE Milton & King and I find myself scrolling through the hundreds of designs they carry on a daily basis.
After a few days I finally went in and chose a few that inspired me and had the samples delivered. I already had one of them from the 1st ORC I did and got about 5 more! Here are the options!!

I am still deciding on which room and or where I will be placing it but I am going to let my vision be driven by some of the antiques I have and go from there!

I know...these are all so different...but I feel like they each evoke a different vibe. These are the ones I am looking at for the dining room/adult lounge. The 1st one is called Almond Blossom...and a little know fact...I am OBSESSED with Peacocks...the bird, the color all of it. The next one is Tuscan Landscape, I have been looking at this one for a while...something about this just screams dining room...my issue is the wall keeps going so I can't really wallpaper the whole wall I have to either frame it choose a different wall...The next one I was looking at I totally forgot to order the sample but it is called Paradise. I kind of like the idea of black and white which lends itself to adding more color but again WHERE! haha Ugh so these were the ones I was looking at for the dining room . Oh and this one ...I really liked this one

I know I am all over the place. This one is called Shadow Palms Mural. NEXT is the Entry Way. I was looking at this one haha only because I was drawn to the red and the all green with the bamboo but it TOTALLY doesn't go with any of the vibes anywhere haha Oh and for a second I was also looking at the black version and Chartruese version of Almond Blossom

I told you I was all over the place. NOW for the entry way I am looking at possibly going with one of the murals...OR Baroque Fusion...something about this large scale print caught my eye I was even thinking of playing around with the ceiling. Ugh. You guys....While I have all of the antiques and pretty much everything I need I do need to pin down an idea cuz guess what....I have my painters coming to skim the walls on MONDAY. So I guess I will be making some decisions FAST!

I have another day to make the final decision on which wallpaper to choose. It will probably take a week and half to get it so I need to order it Monday or Tuesday.

Well, I scheduled the painters...I also picked up paint swatches but need to finalize the wallpaper for final decisions! Week 3 is in the books and I finally feel like I am moving in the right direction! Would love your thoughts I am also going to post on Instagram to poll cuz that is fun even when I don't listen to it! haha

One Room Challenge Week 7: Paint color & Wallpaper reveal + Special Announement!

If you missed the first 4 weeks you can see them  below!

YOU GUYS!!!! What a week! I went from not so update updates...to MAJOR transformation!!! If you follow me on Instagram then you would have seen the reveal of the wall color, the wallpaper & my incredible announcement that made this all happen!!!So let me bring you up to speed! Last week I had to make my decision on a paint color & I finally just went with my gut and went bold! The color I finally decided on was Benjamin Moore Hale Navy. Apparently it is a super popular color because I started to see so many rooms with this blue! But I wanted something elegant yet bold yet moody.

I actually bought Eggshell first and then woke up and went back for the ultra matte from the newer collection...and I am soooo glad I did!!!
This pic was taken at night and we have no lights installed and I LOVE IT. I never did care about if it made the room look small. It IS is a small room haha I don't need it to look big I need it to make me FEEL good...haha and so far it does!!!

I finally used my Miter Saw I got for my birthday from my dad. I am not gonna lie I was scared, but after the first few cuts I was so much more confident! My hubby finished it up and even put them on the wall for me...I have been so exhausted both physically but emotionally with our Lab Sampson and my cat Sasha. This room has actually become a little bit of a distraction...but one we are both so proud of!! Ok now on to the even more exciting news! Check out my INSTAGRAM as I posted on IGTV the reveal...but are you ready to see what Wallpaper I chose?

CHECK OUT MY INSTAGRAM IGTV for my MINI VLOG OF the process!!

Are you?

What did you choose?

ok drumroll..... even though you saw it at the top of the post haha

I watched some Youtube Videos Read directions and just went for it. I know that there were things I did wrong and things I did right...but I tell ya...this wall paper was SOOOO easy to use and so easy to fix!

It came in 2 rolls which means the pattern was different on both so they butt up against each other. The paper is nice and thick and so easy to manipulate!
I had purchased tools on Amazon and found them to be really useful. Man is this wallpaper gorgeous or what?

I used my Handy pail liner for the glue and I loved it.

The glue was what Milton & King Recommended and it worked so well! It didn't dry too quick and was easy to roll on! I used a brush, a mini roller and a large mohair roller
I actually started in the corner which now I look back and it WAS the right place to start I think...then I changed my mind...haha I changed my mind a lot. WARNING. This is NOT a tutorial. THIS IS REAL LIFE APPLICATION hahaon a deadline with a 2 year old and full time job.
So I switched it to the back wall.
The 2nd run was so much easier as there was no cutting so it was perfect and honestly that was the one that I was wanting to be perfect

3rd one went up and I had gotten the hang of it but needed a better ladder no time for that! haha

My amazon tools haha I don't even know if I am doing it right but the paper went on so nicely and I could easily lift it up if I needed to!

I will have some amazing photos next week but these are some progress photos and man....so beautiful!!
Ugh I literally stood there for 15 minutes staring at it! I could see all my not so perfect moves but I DID IT....and I LOVE IT

I was proud of myself guys!!! THANK YOU to Milton & King for providing me with this beautiful paper that will inspire and bring joy. THIS is what this was all about and I am so grateful!

Well I have one week left....I know that there will be things I won't be able to get done...but I have already accomplished so much of my vision. If you know me then you know I love a challenge...it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy haha when you say you are going to do something and you do it. The hardest part is just getting over the fact that it won't be perfect, you will fail, but in the end...it will be something amazing!

See you next week!!!

xoxo,

Shana
